The map was originally published in Jan Evertz. Cloppenburg’s Atlas Minor. The plates was engraved by Pieter van den Keere after his map Hollandia. This peculiar misprint is from Geradi Mercatorris Atlas sive Cosmographicae Meditationes de Fabrica mundi. The title, which was normally printed in the top margin, is printed upside-down in the bottom margin. The Latin text on verso is also printed upside-down. Bottom margin early ink numbering ‘84’.
